Forvia is seeking a Customs & Duties Graduate in Pretoria. The role supports import/export documentation, customs declarations, duties and VAT, while ensuring compliance with SA customs legislation and internal procedures.

You will assist in cost control, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives. The position offers a fixed-term 12-month contract, with responsibilities spanning documentation, tariff classifications, and stakeholder coordination.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of import/export processes and customs procedures is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Good numerical and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsabilités

• Assist with the preparation and verification of import and export documentation.
• Support the processing of customs declarations and tariff classifications under guidance.
• Verify invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and certificates of origin.
• Track shipments and follow up on customs clearance delays.
• Maintain accurate customs records and filing systems.
• Assist with calculation and verification of customs duties, VAT and other charges.
• Reconcile customs invoices with supplier invoices and PO statements.
• Monitor costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare monthly reports on import costs and duties.
• Assist with documentation and compliance monitoring for SARS requirements.
• Maintain records for audits and ensure deadlines are met.
• Support permits, rebates and authorisations where relevant.
• Liaise with clearing agents, freight forwarders, suppliers and finance teams.
• Follow up on documentation and shipment status updates.
• Assist with resolving queries related to customs clearance.
