Responsibilities

  • Create import shipments and documentary Letters of Credit.
  • Reporting and supplier communication.
  • Liaising with Clearing and Forwarding agents on exceptions.
  • Ensure imports documents are accurate and customs compliant.
  • Follow up on outstanding documents from suppliers.
  • Follow up on pro-forma and orders not released.
  • Update shipment module on PLM database.
  • Track, trace and prioritize import shipments.
  • Control imports schedule with containers docking for delivery to DC.
  • Assist with weekly and month-end reports.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • General office administration (filing, updating reports, emails).

Job description

The Imports Graduate Internship is available in the Northern Suburbs (Cape) for a 9-12 month contract. The position requires a degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or a Bachelor of Commerce in Supply Chain and Operations Management. Experience in imports/exports is preferred, along with strong administration skills and computer literacy. Key responsibilities include creating import shipments, reporting and supplier communication, liaising with clearing agents, ensuring import documents are accurate and customs compliant, following up on outstanding documents, and updating the shipment module on the PLM database. The position also involves tracking, tracing, and prioritizing import shipments, controlling import schedules, and providing assistance with weekly and month-end reports.   • Liaising with the Clearing and forwarding agent on all metric exceptions and advising the relevant departments (merchandise, planning ,finance etc) of all exceptions
  • Ensure imports documents is accurate and Customs compliant on the database prior to submitting to the clearing agent and banks
  • Follow up of all outstanding documents from the suppliers to avoid late clearance
  • Follow up all outstanding pro-forma and orders not released that is due for shipment
  • Update of all events relevant to the shipment module on PLM database
  • Tracking, tracing and prioritizing of import shipments
  • Controlling of imports schedule with all containers docking for delivery to the DC
