Role Purpose
Responsible for the performance of the company's complete digital customer acquisition ecosystem, CRM environment and digital presence.
The role is accountable for using digital channels, CRM, customer data and technology to generate qualified leads, improve customer conversion and contribute directly to vehicle sales.
The position will manage external agencies and specialist suppliers but is fundamentally a hands-on management role. The incumbent must have the technical and practical capability to personally manage, execute, optimise and troubleshoot digital marketing and CRM activities where required.
The role is also responsible for ensuring that the company's website, social media platforms, search presence, digital advertising, CRM and wider digital customer experience remain current, effective and competitive.
Key Responsibilities
1. CRM and Customer Journey Management
- Own and continuously optimise the CRM platform and associated customer processes.
- Ensure all leads are captured, allocated, tracked and followed through to conclusion.
- Design and manage the customer journey from initial digital interaction through to vehicle sale.
- Implement lead scoring, segmentation, automated workflows and customer nurturing.
- Develop automated communication through email, SMS, WhatsApp and other relevant channels.
- Manage dormant, lost and unconverted lead reactivation.
- Ensure CRM data integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Monitor dealer response times and lead management compliance.
- Identify weaknesses in the customer funnel and implement corrective actions.
2. Digital Performance Marketing
- Develop and execute digital lead-generation and conversion campaigns.
- Personally manage and optimise campaigns when required across platforms including:
- Google Ads
- Meta / Facebook / Instagram
- YouTube
- TikTok
- Other relevant digital platforms
- Manage campaign structures, audiences, targeting, budgets, bidding and optimisation.
- Develop remarketing and retargeting strategies.
- Manage conversion tracking, pixels, tags and campaign attribution.
- Test and optimise creative, messaging, landing pages, targeting and offers.
- Continuously improve cost per qualified lead and cost per vehicle sold.
3. Website and Digital Presence
Responsible for ensuring the complete digital presence of the business is accurate, effective, current and aligned with best practice.
This includes:
- Corporate and brand websites.
- Model and product pages.
- Dealer locator and dealer information.
- Lead-generation forms.
- Test-drive booking functionality.
- Google and search presence.
- Digital advertising assets.
- Online vehicle listings.
- Digital customer communication channels.
The role must continuously review the digital ecosystem from a customer's perspective and identify areas requiring improvement.
Key focus areas include:
- Website performance and usability.
- SEO and search visibility.
- Customer journey and user experience.
- Page speed and technical performance.
- Accuracy of vehicle specifications, pricing and offers.
- Integration between website, advertising platforms and CRM.
- Implementation of new digital functionality and technology.
4. Social Media and Digital Channels
- Oversee the performance and effectiveness of all social media channels.
- Ensure content supports brand development, customer engagement and commercial objectives.
- Monitor channel performance and audience development.
- Ensure paid and organic digital activity work together effectively.
- Identify emerging channels, formats and technologies relevant to automotive customers.
- Ensure the company's digital presence remains modern, competitive and aligned with changing customer behaviour.
5. Lead Management and Conversion
Manage and continuously improve the complete sales funnel:
Responsibilities include:
- Track conversion at each stage.
- Identify where customers are being lost.
- Implement actions to improve conversion.
- Increase appointments and test drives.
- Improve lead-to-sale conversion.
- Measure actual sales originating from digital activities.
6. Agency and Supplier Management
- Manage multiple digital agencies, CRM providers, lead-generation suppliers, website suppliers, media agencies and technology partners.
- Set clear briefs, objectives, KPIs, deliverables and deadlines.
- Coordinate suppliers around common commercial objectives.
- Review and challenge agency strategies and recommendations.
- Ensure suppliers are measured on business outcomes rather than activity alone.
- Monitor supplier performance, cost and ROI.
- Reallocate expenditure between suppliers and channels based on performance.
- Identify and address underperformance.
- Ensure agencies provide complete access to accounts, data, reporting and digital assets.
- Maintain company ownership and control over customer data and digital platforms.
7. Hands-on Execution and Technical Capability
The position requires practical operating capability and not only supplier management.
The incumbent must be capable of personally:
- Building and adjusting digital campaigns.
- Analysing campaign and CRM data.
- Creating audiences and customer segments.
- Configuring CRM workflows and automations.
- Setting up remarketing campaigns.
- Reviewing and correcting tracking issues.
- Developing dashboards and performance reports.
- Making changes to campaign targeting, budgets and optimisation.
- Briefing and reviewing landing pages and web functionality.
- Diagnosing digital funnel and conversion problems.
- Testing new tools, platforms and technologies.
External agencies should extend internal capability rather than replace it.
8. Analytics and Reporting
- Website traffic.
- Traffic sources.
- Leads generated.
- Qualified leads.

- Campaign ROI / ROAS.

Use the data to continuously determine where digital expenditure should be increased, reduced or redirected.
Continuously identify and implement opportunities to improve digital customer acquisition and conversion, including:
- AI-assisted lead qualification.

- Dynamic remarketing.
- Lookalike and behavioural audiences.
- WhatsApp customer journeys.
- Online test-drive booking.
- Online vehicle configuration.
- Dealer inventory advertising.
- First-party customer data strategies.
- New digital platforms and technologies.

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics or related discipline.
- Minimum 5–7 years' relevant experience in digital performance marketing, CRM, e-commerce or digital customer acquisition.
- Strong practical Google Ads and Meta Ads capability.
- Strong CRM experience, preferably Zoho, Salesforce, HubSpot or similar.
- Experience with marketing automation and customer journey management.
- Strong knowledge of Google Analytics, Tag Manager, conversion tracking and attribution.
- Understanding of website management, UX, SEO and conversion rate optimisation.
- Experience managing multiple agencies and technology suppliers.
- Strong analytical and reporting capability.
