Job summary

County Fair, a Division of Astral Operations Limited, seeks a Credit Controller based in Epping, Cape Town, to manage Customer Accounts per policy.

You will handle age analysis, remittances, collections, invoice queries, and account reconciliations, ensuring timely payments and accurate posting. Strong Excel and ERP experience preferred; FMCG exposure is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 required.
• Certificate in Credit Control / Management preferred.
• 5 years’ credit control experience in FMCG.
• Basic understanding of the National Credit Act.

Responsibilities

• Manage the relevant age analysis accounts.
• Request remittances and reconcile accounts.
• Initiate collection of payments per terms.
• Correspond with customers re invoices, statements, overdue payments, and disputes.
• Investigate claims deducted from payments.
• Contact customers when credit limits are reached.
• Collect payments per credit policy.
• Open new accounts per policy requirements.
• Release blocked orders per policy.
• Conduct annual customer account reviews.
• Prepare weekly cash flow projections.
• Analyze bank statements and allocate payments to customer accounts.
• Investigate account queries and obtain necessary documentation.
• Prepare credit/debit notes and seek approvals.
• Reconcile and allocate weekly, mid-month and month-end payments.
• Recon and forward invoices per customer requirements.
• Check and sign invoices for manual deliveries.
• Update cash flow for month-end payments as remittances are received.
• Prepare rebate claims for month-end customers.
• Report overdue payments to Senior Credit Controller.
• Forward PODs not paid to ensure full payment.
• Investigate customer queries and take action.

Job description

County Fair, a Division of Astral Operations Limited has the Credit Controller vacancy based in Epping, Cape Town.

The overall purpose of this role is to manage Customer Accounts according to company policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Completed Grade 12
• A certificate in Credit Control / Management
• 5 years' Credit Control experience within the FMCG industry
• A basic understanding of the National Credit Act regulations

COMPUTER LITERACY USING THE FOLLOWING PACKAGES:

• Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint) - MS Excel at an advanced level to include V-lookup and Pivots
• Experience using an ERP system, LN System experience is a great advantage

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Manage the relevant Age Analysis account;
• Requesting remittances and reconciliation of accounts;
• Initiate collection of payments as per trading terms;
• Correspondence with relevant customers with regards to invoices, statements, overdue and/or unpaid invoices and rejected claims;
• Investigation of claims deducted off customers payment;
• Contacting customers for payment when credit limit is reached;
• Collection of payment for all payment terms as per the credit policy;
• Opening of new accounts with all the requirements as per credit policy;
• Releasing blocked orders as per credit policy;
• Annual customer account review;
• Conduting weekly cash flow projection;
• Analyzing the bank statements and assigning the payments received to the customer’s account;
• Investigating queries on the customer’s account, obtaining all the necessary documentation for debit/credit notes;
• Preparing the credit/debit and following up for approvals for further processing;
• Recon and allocation of payments for weekly, mid-month and month end customers;
• Recon and invoices to be forwarded to customers as per customers' requirements;
• Check and sign relevant invoices for manual deliveries;
• Updating the cash flow for month end payments as remittances are received;
• Prepare, validate and submit rebate claims timeously for month end customers;
• Reporting over Overdue payments to Senior Credit Controller;
• Forward POD'S not paid (due to cut off or GITS) to ensure full payment is received;
• Action and investigate customer queries;

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent administration and problem-solving skills;
• The ability to effectively reconcile debtors accounts is a key requirement;
• Able to work under pressure and the efficient resolution of customer queries;
• Basic understanding of the 20 Keys continuous workplace improvement programme;
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team;
• The incumbent must be deadline driven with a high work ethic and attention to detail with the required accuracy.
