Obrien Recruitment is seeking a sharp Credit Controller to join the finance team. You will manage both corporate and consumer debtor accounts, assess credit worthiness, and ensure orders are released only after all credit requirements are met.

You will proactively collect payments, reconcile accounts, and support month-end procedures while coordinating with internal departments to mitigate financial risk.

Qualificações

• Matric required.
• 2–3 years' credit control experience.
• Experience handling both corporate and consumer accounts.

Our client is seeking a sharp, detail-oriented and highly accountable Credit Controller to join their finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller who understands that effective credit management goes beyond collecting outstanding payments. It requires sound financial judgement, proactive risk assessment and the confidence to make informed decisions that protect the business.
You will be responsible for managing both corporate and consumer debtor accounts, ensuring that credit risks are carefully assessed, customer accounts are accurately maintained and orders are only released once all necessary credit requirements have been satisfied.

What You'll Be Doing

• Managing a portfolio of corporate and consumer debtor accounts.
• Assessing customer accounts, payment histories, credit limits and outstanding balances before releasing orders.
• Making informed decisions regarding order releases in accordance with company credit policies and procedures.
• Proactively collecting outstanding payments and ensuring adherence to agreed payment terms.
• Reconciling customer accounts and accurately allocating payments.
• Managing new account applications and maintaining accurate customer records.
• Investigating and resolving account discrepancies, payment queries and outstanding credit notes.
• Retrieving proof of deliveries and assisting customers with account-related documentation.
• Performing month-end credit control procedures and supporting debtor reporting.
• Working closely with internal departments to ensure effective credit management and customer service.

What We're Looking For

• Matric qualification.
• At least 2 to 3 years' relevant credit control experience.
• Experience dealing with both corporate and consumer accounts is essential.
• Practical experience in credit risk assessment and order release decisions.
• Strong financial understanding and excellent numerical ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Credit Management qualifications would be advantageous.
