Placements24 has partnered with a boutique hotel in Tembisa, Gauteng, to recruit an innovative Executive Chef. You will lead a busy kitchen, shape the culinary direction, and ensure exceptional dining experiences for restaurant, banquets, and room service.

We seek a culinary leader with 7+ years of progressive experience, including 3+ years in an Executive/Head Chef role, a culinary degree or apprenticeship, and a proven ability to manage costs, quality, and teams in a luxury setting.

Qualifications

• Culinary degree or recognized apprenticeship required.
• Minimum 7 years progressive culinary experience; 3+ years in Exec/Head Chef.
• Proven cost control, menu development, and inventory management skills.
• Strong leadership, staff development, and food safety knowledge.
• Ability to work under pressure in luxury hotel/fine dining.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all culinary operations for restaurant, banquets, and room service.
• Develop seasonal menus reflecting trends and brand.
• Lead and mentor kitchen brigade; foster positive team culture.
• Control costs through inventory, waste reduction, supplier negotiation.
• Ensure HACCP-compliant sanitation and safety standards.
• Collaborate with F&B Manager for profitability and efficiency.
• Source high-quality ingredients and manage supplier relations.
• Conduct quality checks on dishes before service.
• Manage kitchen budgets and labor costs.
• Stay updated on industry trends.
