Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an enthusiastic Early Childhood Development Facilitator for an aftercare program in Sandton, Gauteng. You will create a safe, engaging environment for children aged 6-12 and lead a range of recreational, educational, and creative activities after school hours.

The role emphasizes social, emotional, and physical development, strong communication with parents, and the ability to manage groups effectively.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Early Childhood Development, Education, or related field preferred.
• Experience with primary school-aged children in aftercare or similar setting.
• Strong understanding of child development for ages 6–12.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and group management skills.
• First Aid and CPR certification advantageous; clear criminal record check required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a diverse range of age-appropriate activities (arts/crafts, sports, games, homework assistance, educational projects).
• Ensure safety and well-being of all children under supervision.
• Create a positive, inclusive atmosphere where children feel valued.
• Supervise snack times, playtime, and other activities.
• Assist children with homework and provide academic support when needed.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding participation and concerns.
• Maintain a clean and organized program space.
• Foster positive social interactions and conflict resolution skills.
• Uphold program policies and procedures.
