Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Telecoms Network Engineer focused on Core Infrastructure to join our Randburg-based technical team. You will design, implement, and manage core network components to support the IP backbone, MPLS, and mobile core networks across Gauteng.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least five years in telecoms core network engineering, with strong routing, switching, MPLS, and mobile core experience; SDN knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecoms core network engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF ), switching technologies, and MPLS .
• Experience with mobile core network elements (e.g., SGSN, GGSN, MME, SGW, PGW).
• Familiarity with network virtualization and SDN concepts is advantageous.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage core network components, including routers, switches, and servers.
• Ensure the high availability and optimal performance of the IP backbone, MPLS, and mobile core networks.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network issues.
• Develop and execute network upgrade and maintenance plans.
• Implement network security measures to protect core infrastructure.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams on capacity planning and technology roadmap development.
