Placements24 seeks a highly skilled Telecom Core Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize the company’s core network in Paarl. You will handle routing, MPLS, and signaling, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across services.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on telecom core network experience, strong knowledge of BGP/OSPF, IP networking, firewalls, and security best practices. CNFs/SDN experience is highly desirable. Hybrid work and professional development are offered.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in telecom core network engineering.
• Deep understanding of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and packet‑switched networking.
• Experience with IP networking, firewalls, and security best practices.
• Proficiency in network analysis and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with cloud‑native network functions (CNFs) and software‑defined networking (SDN) is highly desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Design, deploy, and maintain the telecom core network, including routing, switching, and signaling elements.
• Optimize network performance, capacity, and resilience using advanced engineering principles.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with planning and operations teams on network upgrades, new feature introductions, and capacity expansion projects.
• Develop and document network configurations, procedures, and technical guidelines.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to enhance core network capabilities.
• Ensure the security and integrity of the core network infrastructure.
