Job summary

Bidvest Protea Coin is seeking a Contract Manager for the Mining Division at Saaiplaas Plant in Free State. The role focuses on security services, risk assessment, and client liaison within a demanding mining environment.

Key duties include managing manpower, equipment, incident handling, and ensuring compliance with SOPs and company policies. Requires PSIRA Grade A, Grade 12 or equivalent, 3–5 years in mining management, and willingness to undergo polygraph testing.

Qualifications

• Must have 3–5 years’ experience in a management position within a mining environment.
• PSIRA Grade A certification is mandatory.
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with Chrome/Platinum/illegal mining is preferred.
• Investigation/intelligence experience is required.
• Administrator experience is advantageous.
• Willingness to undergo polygraph testing.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Fleet management experience where applicable.
• Clean disciplinary, criminal and credit records are essential.
• Must have own transport and accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Provide security advisory services to clients.
• Conduct threat and risk assessments.
• Liaise with clients and maintain professional relationships.
• Manage manpower and equipment resources.
• Address client complaints effectively and promptly.
• Ensure contractual requirements are met at all times.
• Initiate and chair disciplinary hearings as needed.
• Oversee incident and investigation management.
• Ensure compliance with the company disciplinary code and SOPs.
• Oversee Health & Safety management and incident resolutions.
• Address security officer issues and follow company policies.
• Ensure training is conducted as required and on-the-spot when needed.
• Handle after-hours visits and standby duties.

The suitable candidate’s main responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Security advise to clients;
• Threat and Risk assessment;

Preferred qualifications/attributes/skills:

• PSIRA certification – Grade A
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification;
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in a management position and Mining environment;
• Chrome/Platinum/Illegal Mining Experience;
• Investigation/intelligence experience;
• Relevant experience as an administrator;
• Must be willing to undergo polygraph test;
