Job summary

Our client, a well-established construction and engineering group, seeks an experienced Construction Manager to join their Cape Town team and lead projects from mobilisation to handover. You will oversee site teams, subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery against budgets.

The ideal candidate has 8–10+ years in construction, a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree, strong programme and cost control skills, and proven stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in the construction industry
• Minimum 5 years in Construction Manager or senior site management
• Education: Degree, Diploma or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Experience managing projects from mobilisation to completion
• Experience managing site teams, subcontractors and suppliers
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, programmes and project controls
• Good knowledge of construction contracts and commercial principles
• Strong client, consultant and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
• Professional SACPCMP registration advantageous

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee construction activities from project commencement through to completion
• Develop and monitor project programmes, construction schedules and delivery milestones
• Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders
• Ensure construction activities are executed according to approved designs, specifications and project requirements
• Monitor project progress, productivity and resource utilisation
• Manage labour, plant, materials and other site resources effectively
• Ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets and agreed timelines
• Monitor project costs and identify potential overruns or commercial risks
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and project specifications
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures
• Ensure effective project close-out, snagging and handover

They are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join their Cape Town team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of projects from planning and mobilisation through to completion.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional who enjoys leading site teams, managing project delivery and ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Requirements:

• 8–10+ years’ experience in the construction industry
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in a Construction Manager or senior site management position
• Education: Degree, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
• Strong experience managing construction projects from mobilisation through to completion
