Job summary

RPO Recruitment is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join our Cape Town construction team on a permanent basis. You will oversee multiple building projects, ensure contractual compliance, and drive commercial performance while delivering high quality outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds a BSc or BEng in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, with at least 10 years in the industry, proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, and strong knowledge of SA regulations and contract

• Minimum 10 years' experience in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration and commercial management.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary construction teams.
• Excellent knowledge of South African construction regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple building construction projects simultaneously.
• Oversee contracts ranging from approximately R50 million to R300 million.
• Lead the full contract management process from project award through to completion.
• Negotiate, administer, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, construction legislation, and industry standards.
• Develop and implement contract management systems and best practices.
• Manage project budgets, profitability, forecasting, and financial performance.
• Lead change management, variation orders, and contractual negotiations.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and project risks.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
• Lead multidisciplinary construction teams and mentor site management staff.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular management reporting.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ, quality management, and company policies.
• Manage community engagement and stakeholder relationships where required.

Minimum Requirements

• Excellent knowledge of South African construction regulations and industry standards.
• Valid driver's licence.
