Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a motivated Recreational Sports Officer to lead the planning, development, and evaluation of sports and recreational programs for the Mahikeng community.

You will coordinate leagues, manage facilities, build partnerships with clubs, schools and municipal departments, ensure safe, accessible programs, and drive participation through strategic budgeting and funding opportunities.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Sports Management, Recreation, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in managing sports or recreation programs.
• Proven ability in program planning, event management, and budget administration.
• Strong understanding of sports administration and facility management principles.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work with community groups and municipal departments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for recreational sports programs across the Mahikeng area.
• Organize, coordinate, and promote various sports leagues, tournaments, and recreational events.
• Manage the scheduling and booking of municipal sports facilities, ensuring their optimal use and maintenance.
• Build and maintain relationships with local sports clubs, schools, and community organizations.
• Oversee program budgets, manage resources effectively, and seek funding opportunities.
• Ensure all programs and facilities comply with health, safety, and accessibility standards.
• Monitor participation rates and gather feedback to continuously improve program offerings.
