Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to lead community outreach initiatives in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will identify local needs, develop intervention strategies, provide counseling, and manage cases to connect residents with social services.

The role blends field-based engagement with office duties, requires SACSSP registration, at least three years' post-qualification experience, and a valid driver's license for KwaZulu-Natal travel.

Qualifications

• Registered Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
• Minimum of three years' post-qualification experience in community-based social work.
• Strong knowledge of social welfare legislation and available community resources in Richards Bay.
• Excellent counseling, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing a caseload effectively.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the KwaZulu-Natal region.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive needs assessments for individuals and families facing social challenges.
• Develop and implement tailored intervention plans, providing counseling and support.
• Facilitate access to social grants, healthcare services, housing assistance, and educational opportunities.
• Organize and lead community workshops and awareness campaigns on relevant social issues.
• Maintain detailed case records and prepare reports for management and funding bodies.
• Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the broader community and service systems.
