Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Social Worker to head operations in Cape Town, Western Cape. You will guide a team of social workers and volunteers, oversee complex casework, and drive program development with a strong focus on vulnerable populations and community partnerships.

The ideal candidate has an MSW or equivalent, 7+ years post-qualification experience, and SACSSP registration. You will lead ethical practice, supervise staff, and contribute to policy advocacy while improving service delivery

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 7 years of post-qualifying experience in social work.
• At least 3 years in leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Registration with SACSSP is required.
• Strong knowledge of SA social welfare policies and Cape Town practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of social workers and support staff.
• Oversee development and implementation of social work programs in Cape Town.
• Manage complex caseloads with expert assessment, intervention, and support.
• Foster partnerships with government bodies and community organisations.
• Ensure adherence to ethical standards and supervise professional development.
• Analyze service delivery data for program evaluation and planning.
• Advocate for clients at individual, community, and systemic levels.
• Represent the organisation in professional forums and stakeholder meetings.
