Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Recreation Centre Manager to lead the Soweto facility in Gauteng. You will oversee daily operations, staff, programming, budgeting, maintenance, and safety, while delivering welcoming service to the local community.

The role focuses on developing inclusive recreational activities, building partnerships with community groups, and ensuring compliant operations. Evening and weekend flexibility is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in a management or supervisory role within leisure, sports, or community facilities.
• Relevant qualification in recreation management or related field.
• Proven ability in staff management, program development and budget oversight.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the recreation centre with high service standards.
• Develop and promote diverse recreational programs for all ages.
• Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate staff in a positive environment.
• Manage centre budget, revenue, expenditure and reporting.
• Oversee facility maintenance and safety procedures.
• Engage with community groups and stakeholders; organize events and tournaments.
• Handle memberships, bookings and customer inquiries; ensure regulatory compliance.
