Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Community Engagement Officer to support mining interests in Queenstown and surrounding Eastern Cape communities. You will develop and implement outreach programs, facilitate dialogue, and address community concerns related to mining operations.

The role blends on-site community engagement with remote reporting and strategy planning, requiring excellent communication skills and a passion for building collaborative partnerships.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Development Studies, or a related field.
• 4+ years in community liaison, stakeholder engagement, or CSR, preferably in mining.
• Strong ability to build rapport with diverse community groups.
• Solid understanding of community development principles and social impact assessment.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute community engagement strategies aligned with CSR goals.
• Organize community meetings, consultations, and information sessions.
• Serve as primary contact for community members, addressing inquiries and concerns.
• Monitor and report on community sentiment and socio-economic impacts of mining.
• Collaborate with Legal and Operations to align on initiatives.
• Contribute to local economic empowerment and skills development programs.
