About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Community Development Officer to drive positive change in Stellenbosch. This role focuses on identifying community needs, developing sustainable projects, and mobilizing local resources and participation. You will work closely with residents, local government, and other stakeholders to foster community empowerment and improve socio-economic conditions. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of community dynamics, project management skills, and a passion for sustainable development initiatives within the Western Cape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies to identify development opportunities within the Stellenbosch community.
  • Design, plan, and manage community development projects from inception to completion.
  • Facilitate community engagement processes, ensuring participatory approaches in project development.
  • Mobilize local resources, including financial, human, and material assets, for project sustainability.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local government, NGOs, and private sector entities.
  • Monitor project progress, evaluate impact, and report on outcomes to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in community development or project management.
  • Strong understanding of participatory development methodologies and stakeholder engagement.
