Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Community Support Officer focused on Youth Development in Cape Town. The role centers on empowering young people through guidance, resources, and opportunities to foster growth, skills, and social inclusion.

Based in the Western Cape, you’ll design and implement youth-focused programs and events addressing education, employment, and engagement. You will design engaging programs, mentor youth, and connect them with internships, education, and counseling

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Youth Work, Education, or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience working with youth in community, educational, or non-profit settings.
• Experience in program development, facilitation, and youth mentorship.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Community Support Officer focused on Youth Development to join their vibrant team in Cape Town . This role is central to empowering young people by providing guidance, resources, and opportunities that foster personal growth, skill development, and positive engagement within the community. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing youth-focused programs, workshops, and events aimed at addressing critical issues such as education, employment, and social inclusion. This position demands a passion for working with youth and a commitment to creating supportive environments where they can thrive and reach their full potential, based in the heart of the Western Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate, and deliver engaging programs and workshops for young people, focusing on life skills, career readiness, and personal development.
• Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to youth, assisting them with educational, vocational, and personal challenges.
• Facilitate access to resources such as internships, job placements, educational opportunities, and counseling services.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, community centers, businesses, and other youth-serving organizations in Cape Town .
• Organise and oversee community outreach events and campaigns to promote youth engagement and awareness of available services.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, gathering feedback from participants and stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement and impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Youth Work, Education, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience working directly with youth in a community, educational, or non-profit setting.
• Demonstrated experience in program development, facilitation, and youth mentorship.
• In-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing young people in the Cape Town area.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a genuine passion for youth empowerment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by program activities.
