Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Community Support Worker specialized in aged care in Pietermaritzburg. You will provide personal care, mobility assistance, medications, meals, and engaging activities to enhance seniors’ independence at home and in the community.

Requirements include a relevant qualification, 2+ years in aged care, dementia/palliative care knowledge, strong communication, and a valid driver’s license. A supportive team environment and development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in aged care or community support.
• A relevant qualification in community services, aged care, or a related field.
• Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
• Knowledge of dementia care and palliative care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct personal care to elderly clients, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and the use of mobility aids, ensuring their safety and comfort.
• Administer medications as prescribed, adhering to safety protocols and reporting concerns.
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding according to dietary needs.
• Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote mental and physical stimulation.
• Monitor health status, vital signs, and report changes to the nursing supervisor or case manager.
• Maintain accurate records of care, observations, and incidents.
• Collaborate with families and healthcare professionals for holistic care.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to clients and families.
