About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Refrigeration Engineer to join their expanding operations in George, Western Cape . This role is central to ensuring the optimal functioning of refrigeration systems in a variety of commercial settings, including supermarkets, restaurants, and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of refrigeration cycles, advanced diagnostic techniques, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex refrigeration units, ensuring minimal downtime for our clients' businesses. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving acumen, and excellent customer service skills. Key Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair a diverse range of commercial refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and ice machines.
• Perform detailed diagnostics on refrigeration systems to identify root causes of malfunctions.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance checks and services to ensure peak performance and efficiency.
• Read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and specifications.
• Ensure all refrigerant handling complies with environmental regulations and company safety protocols.
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergency service calls.
• Maintain meticulous records of work performed, including parts used and time spent.

Requirements

• Recognized trade qualification in Refrigeration or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience specifically within commercial refrigeration.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex refrigeration systems, including CO2 systems.
• Knowledge of electrical control systems and schematic reading.
• Excellent understanding of thermodynamic principles and refrigeration cycles.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and after-hours callouts.
• Valid driver's license.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with clients.
• Resident in or able to commute reliably to George, Western Cape .
