Placements24 is seeking a skilled Commercial Refrigeration System Technician to join our client’s team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and chillers for supermarkets, restaurants, and cold storage facilities.

The ideal candidate has a relevant refrigeration trade qualification (NTC3/City & Guilds) and at least 4 years of hands-on experience, with strong diagnostic and repair abilities and a solid

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (NTC3 / City & Guilds).
• Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Commercial Refrigeration Technician.
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex refrigeration systems; read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and chillers.
• Diagnose refrigeration system malfunctions, including leaks, electrical issues, and component failures.
• Troubleshoot and identify root causes of performance problems.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on refrigeration equipment to ensure efficiency and longevity.
• Recharge refrigerant systems, braze and solder copper tubing, and replace worn components.
• Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints for system diagnostics and repair.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards for refrigerant handling.
• Provide clear and concise service reports to management and clients.

Requirements

• Relevant trade qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (e.g., NTC3, City & Guilds).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Commercial Refrigeration Technician.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex refrigeration systems.
• Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, compressors, refrigerants, and control systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as manifold gauges, vacuum pumps, and leak detectors.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Stellenbosch region and surrounding areas in the Western Cape.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
