Placements24 is assisting a prominent industrial services company in George to hire an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Installer. You will install, commission, service and repair large-scale refrigeration systems used in manufacturing and logistics, ensuring reliability and safety.

The role requires a trade qualification in Refrigeration, minimum 6 years' hands-on experience, and proficiency with compressors, piping, controls, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years in industrial refrigeration installation and maintenance.
• Trade qualification in Refrigeration or related field.
• Certified in handling refrigerants (e.g., 407C, Ammonia).
• Experience with large industrial compressors and control systems.
• Strong safety focus and ability to work at heights/ confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and service industrial refrigeration units and pipework.
• Diagnose and repair faults in large refrigeration systems and controls.
• Perform routine maintenance to prevent failures and read P&IDs.
• Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and proper reporting.
• Assist training of junior technicians and respond to emergencies.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the industrial services sector, is seeking an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Installer to join their team in the George area. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of large-scale industrial refrigeration systems used in manufacturing, food processing, and logistics facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance and reliability of these critical systems, often working under demanding conditions. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial refrigeration principles, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to providing essential services to key industries within the Western Cape . This is a challenging yet rewarding role for a dedicated professional.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and service industrial refrigeration units and associated pipework.
• Diagnose and repair faults in complex refrigeration systems, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and control panels.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections to prevent system failures.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Work with refrigerants, including recovery, handling, and charging according to regulations.
• Collaborate with plant engineers and operations personnel to minimize downtime.
• Prepare detailed service reports and maintain accurate logs of work performed.
• Assist in the training and development of junior technicians.
• Respond to emergency service calls as required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience specifically in industrial refrigeration installation and maintenance.
• Trade qualification in Refrigeration or a related engineering field.
• Certified in handling refrigerants (e.g., Section 407C, Ammonia).
• Proven experience with large industrial compressors (screw, reciprocating, centrifugal).
• Strong understanding of electrical and control systems related to industrial refrigeration.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, with a strong focus on safety.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and public holidays.
• Familiarity with food-grade refrigeration systems is a plus.
