Job summary

Farm Manager SA is seeking a capable Farm Manager in Mpumalanga to oversee day-to-day operations on the Barterton-area farm. The role includes maintenance of roads, water systems, fences, buildings, and waste management, with responsibility for supervising workers and reporting to the Director.

Applicants should hold a B.Sc. or Diploma in Agriculture and possess a valid driving licence; a heavy vehicle licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. degree or Diploma in Agriculture, preferably related to plant production.
• Valid standard vehicle driving licence; heavy vehicle licence advantageous.
• Practical farm experience in harvesting, pruning and fertilisation desirable.
• Mechanical knowledge and practical mechanical ability advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee upkeep of farm infrastructure including roads and fencing.
• Manage water reticulation, dam and pump maintenance.
• Oversee maintenance of houses and farm buildings.
• Train and supervise farm workers; ensure effective execution of operations.
• Keep asset register accurate and up to date.
• Report to the Director as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

• Upkeep of farm road infrastructure
• Water reticulation
• Fence maintenance
• Fire breaks
• Dam and pump maintenance
• Building maintenance
• Access control
• Waste management
• Report to the Director as and when required
• Oversee maintenance of the three houses on the premises and all other farm buildings
• Train and supervise farm workers. The Farm Manager is ultimately responsible for the effective execution of all operational activities
• Keep the asset register accurate and up to date.
