Job summary

Farm Manager SA in Limpopo is seeking a seasoned farm manager to lead the game farm, hunting and lodge operations. You will oversee irrigation farming operations and the development of the game farm infrastructure.

You will manage existing cattle herds and general livestock operations, and you will recruit and build your own workforce for the irrigation farm.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of farm management experience.
• Experience in cropping (lucerne, maize, butternut), game farming, cattle farming (Brahman cattle a bonus).
• Irrigation management - centre pivots & drip irrigation.
• Maintenance oriented - electrical systems & mechanical maintenance.
• Strong management and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Overall management, maintenance and development of the game farm, as well as the effective management of the hunting and lodge operations.
• Operational management and further development of the irrigation farming operations
• Management of existing cattle herds and general livestock operations
• Responsible for recruiting and building his own workforce on the irrigation farm.

Minimum Requirements

• Agricultural Diploma / Degree advantageous
• Min of 5 - 10 years previous farm management experience
• Experience in the following:
  • Cropping (all aspects) - lucerne, maize and butternut
  • Game farming
  • Cattle farming - Brahman cattle experience advantageous
  • Irrigation management - centre pivots & drip irrigation
  • Maintenance orientated - electrical systems & mechanical maintenance.
• Strong management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to operate tractors and all farm related equipment.
• Valid driver’s licence
