Placements24 seeks a Commercial Construction Superintendent in Pretoria, Gauteng to oversee on-site activities for large commercial builds, coordinate trades, maintain safety and quality, and keep project managers informed.

You will lead subcontractors, monitor progress, manage site logistics, and ensure compliance with codes, with a focus on productivity, accountability, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 7 years in commercial construction, with at least 3 years in superintendent or on-site leadership.
• Proven track record of managing commercial construction projects from start to finish.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and quality control principles.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all on-site construction activities for commercial projects.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, ensuring workflow and adherence to schedules.
• Implement and enforce all site safety policies and procedures, conduct safety inspections, and maintain safety records.
• Monitor project progress daily, identifying potential delays and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure quality control measures are consistently applied and that all work meets project specifications and building codes.
• Manage site logistics, including material deliveries, equipment, and temporary facilities.
• Maintain daily progress reports, site diaries, and other relevant documentation.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for on-site issues, resolving conflicts and ensuring effective communication among all parties.
• Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure project objectives are met.
• Manage site personnel and promote a culture of productivity and accountability.
