Job summary

Placements24 in Durban seeks a highly skilled Structural Engineer to strengthen coastal infrastructure projects. You will design, analyze, and oversee structures exposed to marine and environmental conditions prevalent in KwaZulu-Natal, ensuring integrity, longevity, and safety of marine defenses, port facilities, and coastal buildings.

Collaborate with architects, geotechnical engineers, and project managers to deliver robust, sustainable designs.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Structural Engineering or closely related field.
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in structural design and analysis.
Pr Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
Experience designing structures exposed to marine environments or coastal conditions.
Strong understanding of materials, construction methods, and quality control in Durban.

Responsibilities

Design and analyze structural elements for buildings, bridges, marine structures, and other infrastructure projects, considering complex load conditions.
Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using relevant design codes and software.
Perform site inspections and assessments to ensure construction quality and adherence to design specifications.
Collaborate with architects, geotechnical engineers, and project managers to integrate structural designs seamlessly.
Assess existing structures for rehabilitation or strengthening, providing expert recommendations.
Ensure all structural designs comply with South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant engineering best practices for the Durban region.
