Job summary

Placements24 in Durban is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure, and to develop robust CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing.

You will implement IaC using Terraform and Ansible, manage containers with Docker and Kubernetes, and script common admin tasks in Python or Bash. This role focuses on on-site collaboration within a dynamic IT department.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a DevOps or Systems Engineering role.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform and Ansible (or Chef/Puppet).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting in Python or Bash.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing.
• Implement and manage IaC using Terraform / Ansible.
• Monitor performance and optimize systems.
• Automate operational tasks for efficiency.
• Ensure security/compliance of cloud environments.
• Collaborate with teams to troubleshoot production issues.
• Work with containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Develop system administration scripts (Python, Bash).
• Participate in on-call rotation for incident response.
• Stay updated on DevOps and cloud best practices.
• Contribute to deployment architecture decisions.
