Job summary

Morton Moore Pty Ltd in Kloof, South Africa, is seeking an experienced and assertive Claims Handler to manage personal and commercial lines claims from start to finish. The ideal candidate has at least five years’ claims experience, FAIS qualifications for personal and commercial lines, and RE5 where applicable.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in personal and commercial lines claims.
• FAIS qualified in both personal and commercial lines with RE5 or equivalent.
• Strong administration and organisational skills with close attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage and process personal and commercial lines claims from registration through to finalisation.
• Register new claims and ensure documentation is obtained and captured.
• Appoint and brief assessors and follow up on assessment reports.
• Liaise with clients, insurers, assessors and service providers to keep claims moving.
• Keep clients informed of progress and outcomes in a timely manner.
• Review policy wordings to confirm cover and identify issues.
• Negotiate settlements with service providers and insurers.
• Maintain accurate claim records and follow up on outstanding claims.
• Ensure FAIS and regulatory compliance.

Job description

Our client, a well-established short-term insurance brokerage in the Kloof area, is looking for an experienced and assertive Claims Handler to join their team. The successful candidate will manage personal and commercial lines claims from start to finish, working closely with clients, assessors and service providers. This is a fully office-based role with no hybrid option.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and process personal and commercial lines claims from registration through to finalisation
  
• Register new claims and ensure all supporting documentation is obtained and accurately captured
  
• Appoint and brief assessors, and follow up on assessment reports
  
• Authorise repairs and replacements within mandate and in line with policy terms
  
• Liaise with clients, insurers, assessors and service providers to keep claims moving efficiently
  
• Keep clients informed of claim progress and outcomes in a professional and timely manner
  
• Review policy wordings to confirm cover and identify potential claim issues
  
• Negotiate with service providers and insurers to secure fair and cost-effective settlements
  
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date claim records and administration on internal systems
  
• Follow up on outstanding claims to ensure strict deadlines and turnaround times are met
  
• Resolve client queries and escalator complex or disputed claims where necessary
  
• Ensure all claims handling complies with FAIS and other relevant regulatory requirements
  

Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12)
  
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in personal and commercial lines claims
  
• FAIS qualified in both personal and commercial lines
  
• Necessary Regulatory Examinations already completed (e.g. RE5)
  
• Strong administration and organisational skills with close attention to detail
  
• Assertive and confident, with good interpersonal skills
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  
• Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  
• Must be able to work fully office-based in Kloof
  
• Own transport preferable
  

Our client is offering a salary of R25,000 – R30,000 per month CTC, depending on experience.
