About the Role

Our client, a prominent retail bank in Welkom, Free State, is seeking a distinguished Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its financial operations. This executive role is responsible for the strategic direction of all financial activities, including financial planning, risk management, reporting, and capital structure. The CFO will be a key member of the executive management team, reporting directly to the CEO, and will play a crucial role in shaping the bank's long-term financial strategy and ensuring its stability and profitability. This is a critical leadership position requiring a deep understanding of the banking industry and financial markets, based in our Welkom, Free State headquarters. We are seeking a visionary leader who can navigate complex financial landscapes and drive sustainable growth for the bank.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the bank's financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and treasury operations.
• Develop and implement the bank's overall financial strategy, aligning with business objectives.
• Manage capital structure, fundraising, and investor relations.
• Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, accounting standards, and legal requirements.
• Lead the risk management function, overseeing credit, market, operational, and liquidity risks.
• Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the Board of Directors and senior management.
• Drive profitability and optimize financial performance across all business lines.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulators, auditors, and financial institutions.
• Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Manage the finance and accounting teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification is essential.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with a significant portion within the banking or financial services sector.
• Proven experience as a CFO or Senior Financial Executive.
• Deep understanding of banking operations, financial regulations (e.g., SARB regulations), and capital markets.
• Expertise in financial planning, analysis, risk management, and corporate governance.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex financial structures and large teams.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Welkom, Free State.
• Experience in managing relationships with regulatory bodies is highly desirable.
