Job summary

Waves for Change (W4C) seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead fundraising and development strategy, growing philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and partners. Based in Muizenberg, this full-time, hybrid role reports to the CEO and collaborates with the executive team to align funding with strategy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of executive fundraising or development leadership in NGO/public sector.
• Proven track record securing large grants from international foundations and donors.
• Strong strategic planning and multi-year development experience.
• Budgeting and financial forecasting skills for fundraising portfolios.
• Experience managing senior donor relationships at national/international level.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and data-driven fundraising.
• Able to work remotely in the South African Timezone.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising strategy and revenue growth for Waves for Change.
• Manage annual and planned giving programs; steward major donors.
• Oversee grant proposals, reporting, and compliance.
• Supervise Communications and Grants teams; ensure donor communications.
• Budgeting and revenue forecasting; report to CEO/board.
• Represent W4C at events and build partnerships.
