Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Process Design Engineer for its Mossel Bay facility. You will conceptualize, design, and develop new chemical processes and modifications, delivering detailed PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specs and operating procedures to ensure safe, efficient and economically viable outcomes.

You will collaborate with project engineers and other disciplines, applying unit operation & thermodynamics knowledge, simulations, and CAD tools to optimise parameters and maintain compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of chemical process design experience.
• Proficient with Aspen Plus and CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of unit operations, reaction engineering, and thermodynamics.
• Experience specifying and procuring process equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Chemical Process Design Engineer to contribute to innovative projects at their facility in Mossel Bay . This role involves the conceptualization, design, and development of new chemical processes and modifications to existing ones. You will be responsible for creating detailed process designs, including P&IDs, equipment specifications, and operating procedures, ensuring efficiency, safety, and economic viability. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and a keen eye for detail in process engineering and design.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual designs and feasibility studies for new chemical processes.
• Prepare detailed Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and mass/energy balances.
• Specify process equipment such as reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, and separation units.
• Perform process simulations and calculations to ensure optimal design parameters.
• Collaborate with project engineers and other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements in Mossel Bay .
