Job summary

Cash Crusaders seeks a vigilant Control Room Operator to monitor CCTV and security systems across the national store network from the Lanseria location. The role focuses on rapid incident response, compliance enforcement, and detailed reporting to protect assets and people.

The ideal candidate has PSIRA Grade C or higher, proven control room and CCTV experience, and strong English communication. Must handle night shifts, weekends, and public holidays with reliability and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and CCTV software.
• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Reliable transport to Lanseria Control Room for punctual attendance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV, alarm platforms and security systems across the national store network.
• Respond to alarms, alerts and security incidents per procedures.
• Conduct scheduled virtual store patrols to identify risks and non‑compliance.
• Contact stores to address non-compliance and provide guidance for compliance.
• Escalate incidents to internal departments or external service providers when required.
• Maintain accurate incident reports, logs and daily operation reports.
• Identify and report CCTV/alarm/technical faults to ensure timely resolution.
• Monitor stores for unusual activity, theft, robberies, and other security exceptions.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive security information.
• Work effectively in a 24/7 shift environment with high situational awareness.

Job description

Cash Crusaders is seeking a vigilant, professional, and highly motivated Control Room Operator to join our National Control Room team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring security systems across our national store network, identifying security risks, responding to incidents, and ensuring that established security procedures are followed.

This role is critical in protecting our stores, employees, customers, and assets through proactive monitoring and effective incident management.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV systems, alarm platforms, and other security monitoring systems across the national store network.
• Respond promptly to incoming alarms, alerts, and security incidents in accordance with company procedures.
• Conduct scheduled virtual patrols of stores to identify security risks, procedural non-compliance, suspicious activity, and operational concerns.
• Contact stores when security procedures are not being followed and provide guidance to ensure immediate compliance.
• Escalate security incidents to the relevant internal departments, management, or external service providers where required.
• Maintain accurate, detailed, and professional incident reports, occurrence logs, and daily operational reports.
• Identify and report CCTV, alarm, communication, or other technical faults to ensure timely resolution.
• Monitor stores for unusual activity, theft, robberies, suspicious behaviour, early openings, after-hours access, and other security exceptions.
• Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive security information.
• Work effectively within a 24/7 shift environment while maintaining a high level of situational awareness.

Minimum Requirements

• PSIRA Grade C qualification or higher (essential).
• Previous Control Room experience is essential.
• CCTV monitoring experience is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and CCTV/security monitoring software.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Must have reliable transport to and from the Cash Crusaders Control Room in Lanseria to ensure punctual attendance.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Experience with CCTV platforms such as HikCentral IVMS-4200, Hik-Connect, Axxon, Milestone, or similar Video Management Systems.
• Experience monitoring intrusion alarm systems and access control platforms.
• Knowledge of security procedures, incident response, and emergency protocols engaging with Armed Response Companies and the South African Police Service (SAPS)
• Previous experience in a retail or corporate security environment will be advantageous.
