Job description

We are looking for:

ASurveillance Officerwho willberesponsible formonitoring,observing, and reporting activities across company premises or operations to ensure safety, compliance, and security of assets, personnel, and information. This includesidentifyingsuspicious activities, enforcing security protocols, and supporting investigations whererequired.

Knowledge and abilities:

  • Knowledge of surveillance technology and basic troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor CCTV and surveillance systems to detect and prevent theft, damage, or other security breaches.
  • Conduct routine and random inspections of premises, warehouses, or restricted areas.
  • Identify, record, and report suspicious or unusual behaviour and incidents promptly.
  • Maintainaccuraterecords of all surveillance observations, incidents, and actions taken.
  • Ensure that all security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control) are functioning effectively; report faultsimmediately.
  • Liaise with internal departments, management, and external security providers or law enforcement when necessary.
  • Report equipment faults or downtimeimmediatelyto the IT or technical department for repair.
  • Provide clear and factual reports supported by video evidence whenrequiredfor disciplinary, legal, or insurance purposes.
  • Track andmonitorentry and exit of personnel, visitors, and vehicles through access control systems.
  • Identifyunauthorized access, unsafe behaviour, or policy violations and reportitimmediately.
  • Assistin investigations, providing video footage, reports, and supporting evidence.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all surveillance data and adhere to data protection policies.
  • Support health, safety, and environmental compliance byobservingunsafe acts or conditions and reporting them.
  • Participate in regular training, briefings, and security drills to remain up to date with company procedures and security standards.
  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to management summarising incidents, system performance, and key security observations
  • Maintain awareness of relevant legislation such as the POPI Act, PSIRA, and occupational health and safety laws
  • Liaise with security guards andwarehouse managerstomaintainawareness of on-site activities and potential risks.
