Job summary

Acwa is seeking a CCR Operator for our Operations team in South Africa. You will monitor unit parameters, coordinate with fellow operators, and ensure safe, efficient plant operation.

responsibilities include logging, responding to abnormal conditions, and implementing lockout procedures when maintenance is performed. The role requires a Diploma or BE, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar position, familiarity with SOPs, P&IDs, and environmental health and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Familiar with safety and regulatory requirements in the plant.
• Knowledge of waste handling, emissions, and environmental impact.
• Able to operate and monitor plant controls and firefighting equipment.
• Proficient in using PPE and basic instruments and log sheets.
• Knowledge of power/water plant operations and hazard controls.

Responsibilities

• Monitor unit parameters and log readings; summarize shift activities.
• Follow instructions from Shift Charge Engineer and coordinate with other Operators.
• Act quickly under abnormal conditions and manage Lock Out/Tag Out when required.
• Inspect equipment for normal operation; report abnormalities.
• Perform periodic protection tests and equipment changeovers as scheduled.
• Raise work requests for faults and assist in training new operators.
• Report near misses and deviations in HSE management, and ensure proper waste disposal.
