Placements24 is seeking a Catering Assistant Manager to support the management team in overseeing daily operations and event execution at Soweto-based events. This hands-on, on-site role requires availability during evenings and weekends as events demand.

The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience in catering, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic hospitality setting. A positive attitude and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or team lead experience in catering/hospitality preferred.
• Basic understanding of catering operations and event execution.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Knowledge of basic food safety is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Catering Manager in supervising and directing catering staff during events and daily operations.
• Support setup and breakdown of catering services for events, ensuring presentation and functionality.
• Monitor food and beverage quality, service standards, and guest experience during events.
• Assist in inventory management, stock rotation, and receiving of catering supplies.
• Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and promptly.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations within the catering environment.
• Help train and onboard new catering staff, reinforcing service standards and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
• Assist with event planning logistics as directed by the Catering Manager.
