Job summary

Papenfus Retail Consultants CC, operating Pick n Pay Upington, is seeking a Frontline Cashier to provide efficient, friendly checkout service and accurate transaction processing. You will uphold the store’s professional image at the point of sale.

You will handle cash, cards, vouchers, and loyalty points, scan items, apply promotions, and assist customers with questions while keeping tills neat and secure. This role requires weekend and peak-period availability.

Qualifications

• Location: Upington or nearby for commuting.
• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent.
• 1 year cashier experience in retail.
• Able to operate POS systems and checkout equipment.
• English and Afrikaans; additional language helpful.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and process purchases efficiently.
• Scan items, confirm prices, and ensure correct totals.
• Handle cash, cards, vouchers, and loyalty points.
• Pack purchases neatly and assist bagging as needed.
• Maintain friendly, professional attitude at all times.
• Inform customers about promotions and loyalty offers.
• Address queries or escalate to Supervisor as needed.
