Job summary
PBT Group in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer (COBOL/DB2) for a hybrid contract role. You will work on mainframe projects, designing, coding, testing and delivering solutions across the development lifecycle.
Ideal candidates have strong COBOL and DB2 expertise, solid SDLC knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot production issues within a multi-team environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer.
- Strong hands-on COBOL development experience.
- Strong DB2 experience.
- Solid understanding of mainframe development environments and SDLC processes.
- Experience with application maintenance, enhancements and production support.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance applications within a mainframe environment.
- Design, code, test and implement solutions using COBOL and DB2.
- Analyse business and technical requirements and translate these into effective technical solutions.
- Perform application enhancements, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Develop and optimise DB2 queries and database solutions.
- Investigate and resolve production issues and system defects.
- Participate in code reviews, testing and quality assurance activities.
- Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders and other delivery teams.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation.
- Support continuous improvement and ensure solutions align with development and architectural standards.
