Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting an Event Catering Supervisor for a major university in Bloemfontein. You will oversee campus catering operations for student functions, conferences and dinners, supervise catering staff, and ensure high standards of food quality, presentation and service.

You’ll coordinate with event organizers, manage inventory and safety compliance, and contribute to menu planning and cost control, while delivering exceptional service to the university community in Bloemfontein.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years in catering supervision or event coordination.
• Experience in campus/institutional or large-scale events is advantageous.
• Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Bloemfontein.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all catering activities for events on campus.
• Manage and schedule catering staff.
• Ensure timely preparation and delivery of food and beverages.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene.
• Liaise with event organizers, faculty, and students.
• Manage inventory and place orders as needed.
• Oversee setup and breakdown of catering equipment.
• Handle customer inquiries and address issues professionally.
• Conduct team briefings and training sessions.
• Contribute to menu planning and cost control.
