Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Catering Supervisor for our client, a large educational institution in Bloemfontein. You will oversee daily catering operations, lead a team of staff, and ensure high standards of food quality, hygiene, and service for students, faculty, and staff.

The role requires strong leadership, inventory control, and the ability to manage events and dining services across the campus, including evenings and weekends during peak periods.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in supervisory or management roles within catering or food service.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, hygiene standards, and food safety regulations.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for team and client interaction.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends during peak events.
• Experience in inventory management and basic cost control.
• Passion for providing excellent customer service.
• Previous experience in institutional or campus catering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of catering staff, including kitchen assistants and service personnel.
• Ensure efficient food preparation, cooking, and serving according to menus and quality standards.
• Manage inventory of food, beverages, and supplies, including ordering and stock rotation.
• Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety in all areas.
• Oversee catering for university events, meetings, and functions, ensuring smooth execution and client satisfaction.
• Assist in menu planning and development, considering dietary needs and seasonal availability.
• Train new staff and provide ongoing guidance and support to the team.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
• Ensure compliance with university policies and health regulations.
