Job summary

The Capital Hotels in Johannesburg, Gauteng is seeking an experienced Deputy General Manager to support the General Manager in running day-to-day hotel operations, ensuring high guest service standards, and driving commercial performance across departments.

This senior on-site role requires strong leadership to mentor department heads, optimize front office, F&B and housekeeping, and contribute to revenue management and cost control. Eligibility to work in South Africa is required.

The Capital Hotels is seeking experienced hospitality leaders to join its team in Johannesburg, Gauteng. This Deputy General Manager role is central to delivering outstanding guest experiences, supporting operational excellence across departments and helping shape service standards for the property.

Purpose of the role

The Deputy General Manager supports the General Manager in running day-to-day hotel operations, ensuring high standards of guest service, operational efficiency and commercial performance. This role acts as a senior leader on site, stepping in for the General Manager when required and driving team performance across food & beverage, front office, housekeeping and facilities.

Key responsibilities

Desirable skills and experience

• Experience deputising for a General Manager or holding a senior operational role in a similar-sized property.
• Knowledge of local market dynamics in Gauteng and corporate or group hotel reporting.
• Experience with hospitality property management systems and common operational technology.
• Formal supervisory or management training.

Qualifications

• Professional qualifications in hospitality management, hotel administration or equivalent experience are advantageous but not always required; demonstrable, relevant operational experience is accepted.

What we offer

The role is Full-time and Permanent. The salary range for this role is R40,000.00 to R100,000.00 per month. The overall package will be typical for senior operational roles in the hospitality sector and may include benefits such as staff accommodation options where appropriate, meals while on duty, statutory leave entitlements, and access to training and development opportunities.
