Job summary

The Good Human (Pty)Ltd is seeking a Deputy General Manager to influence strategic direction and operational excellence across its luxury hotel operations in South Africa.

You will support the General Manager with vision, lead all departments, ensure governance and safety standards, and drive service excellence while managing budgets and guest satisfaction. A strong leadership track record in 5-star hospitality is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the 5-star hospitality market.
• Proven experience in a Deputy General Manager or similar senior leadership role
• Demonstrated financial and commercial acuity
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and management skills
• Excellent guest relations and stakeholder management abilities
• Good understanding of compliance management and health and safety standards

Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager in shaping the overall management and strategic vision of the hotel.
• Provide visible, hands-on leadership across all operational departments.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and legislation.
• Develop and implement strategies aligned with the hotel’s mission, vision, and values.
• Drive exceptional guest experiences, uphold service excellence, and monitor guest satisfaction.
• Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and cost management.
• Foster a positive, professional, and high-performance hotel culture.
• Build strong relationships with key guests, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, revenue optimisation, and financial performance management.
• Identify opportunities for service, product, and guest proposition enhancements.
• Maintain operational responsibility in the General Manager’s absence.
• Lead, coach, and develop department heads and hotel teams
