Job summary

DSV in Kempton Park is seeking a Business Development Manager for Mining, Air & Sea to grow our mining portfolio across Africa. You will own key mining client relationships, drive retention and sales growth, and lead tender responses.

The role requires 3–5 years of client facing experience in logistics, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel locally and internationally. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored supply chain solutions and ensure profitable

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of client-facing experience in mining, oil & gas within logistics or freight forwarding.
• Experience in responding to tenders in a procurement environment.
• Own reliable vehicle and valid endorsed driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel locally and internationally; able to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed personal growth targets with acceptable risk to contribute to mining growth.
• Manage and grow mining sales pipeline; achieve annual targets.
• Create and deliver sales strategy within Africa; identify profitable opportunities.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders and industry bodies.
• Own the tender process for mining opportunities.
• Collaborate with business units to develop customized mining solutions.
• Ensure deadlines are met; influence internal stakeholders to deliver results.
• Maintain knowledge of mining regulations and trade developments.
• Monitor market and competitor data to enhance mining value proposition.
• Mitigate risk with detailed project implementation for new business.
• Work under pressure in a corporate environment; engage at executive level.
• Fulfil CRM reporting to stakeholders; maintain contracts and contact matrices.
• Regular site visits and reviews with customers (monthly/quarterly).

Main Purpose of The Role:

Responsible for our key mining clients, to retain and grow our existing mining business and deliver on our retention and sales growth strategy for Mining

MinimumRequirements:

Minimum 3 – 5 years client facing experience (Mining, Oil & Gas) in Logistics, Supply Chain or Freight Forwarding Experience in working towards and meeting sales growth targets.

Duties andResponsibilities:

• To meet or exceed personal growth/development targets with an acceptable profit and risk profile to contribute to the overall business growth target for the Mining Vertical though onboarding new resupply customers.
• Manage and grow mining sales pipeline of new business opportunities and ensure targets are achieved for each financial year.
• Create, execute and deliver on the sales strategy within Africa by identifying and sourcing profitable new business opportunities.
• Understand and identify key stakeholders within the industry and build relationships at all levels as well as with industry bodies.
• Ownership of the tender process for mining vertical opportunities.
• Work closely with all business units to develop customized solutions that differentiate DSV in the market.
• Ensure deadlines are met and able to positively influence internal stakeholders to achieve the end result.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and requirements on key trade lanes servicing the mining industry.
• Keep updated with DSV Global and country specific mining developments and legislation that could impact mining trade.
• Competitor analysis and market data analysis to ensure continuous improvement and enhancement to the mining value proposition.
• Mitigate risk by ensuring detailed implementation of projects and new business within the business.
• Ability to work under pressure in a corporate environment.
• Executive level engagement for new opportunities
• Fulfil reporting requirements including but not limited to CRM Tool management to all stakeholders
• Record keeping of all contracts, engagements, work instructions, SOPs and contact matrix of customers
• Customer relationship ownership and management including regular Site Visits and Reviews (Monthly/Quarterly)
