The BrokerConsultant is responsible for developing, managing, and growing relationshipswith allocated brokers to achieve profitable premium growth, increased marketpenetration, and strong retention outcomes. The role requires proactivebusiness development, broker engagement, portfolio management, producttraining, and effective execution of the company's distribution strategy whileadhering to internal governance, compliance standards, and service levelcommitments.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strongrelationships with allocated brokers, acting as their primary point ofcontact.
- Conduct regular brokervisits and engagement activities in line with agreed contact strategies.
- Identify broker needs andopportunities to strengthen partnerships and improve service delivery.
- Drive profitable premiumgrowth by securing new business and expanding existing broker portfolios.
- Develop and implementbroker-specific growth plans aligned to business objectives.
- Promote the company'sproducts, solutions, and value proposition to increase productpenetration.
- Monitor portfolioperformance, including production, retention, growth, and profitability,and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Support renewal retentioninitiatives and ensure business aligns with underwriting appetite andtarget markets.
- Provide broker training onproducts, systems, policy wordings, underwriting appetite, and competitiveadvantages.
- Offer technical productsupport and keep brokers informed of product, process, and marketdevelopments.
- Ensure compliance withFAIS, TCF, POPIA, governance requirements, and maintain accurate recordsand reporting.
- Collaborate withunderwriting, claims, operations, and distribution teams, sharing marketintelligence and supporting strategic business initiatives.
- Grade 12 (Matric) / NQF4in Short-term Insurance or equivalent
- Own reliable androadworthy vehicle.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years'experience as a Broker Consultant within the short-term insuranceindustry.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years'experience in short-term insurance underwriting, specifically incommercial lines and agricultural insurance, within an insurer, UMA, orintermediary environment.
