Job summary

The South African Breweries is seeking a Brewing Area Manager to lead area teams and deliver on production plans while upholding VPO standards and tight cost controls. The role emphasizes quality, technical depth, and people leadership within a brewery environment.

Responsibilities include promoting quality, solving complex brewing problems, and driving process improvements in CAPEX/VA projects, while ensuring safety and environmental compliance across the area.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a BSc degree in a relevant science or engineering field.
• Completed brewing traineeship and IBD qualifications are strongly preferred.
• IBD Papers 1,2 & 3 completed and passing status desirable.
• SAP modules and White belt certification are advantageous.
• At least 2 years of production experience with management exposure in brewing.

Responsibilities

• Promote beer brewing quality excellence across the value chain.
• Communicate brewing process and product quality standards clearly.
• Provide leadership to ensure commitment to product quality in the brewing department.
• Apply brewing quality systems in the workplace.
• Assess technical requirements and support process/product optimisation including CAPEX/VA.
• Audit area standards to ensure effective management and adherence to VPO pillars.
• Lead problem solving and decision making with brewing management and operations teams.
• Control fixed and variable costs and minimize waste.
• Ensure conformance to production plans and environmental/quality standards.
• Foster health, safety, and risk management for area teams.
• Develop employees and maintain a healthy industrial relations climate.
