Job summary

Afrimat Lyttelton, based in Centurion, is seeking a qualified Boilermaker/Welder to join our team. The role requires 2–3 years' experience, reading drawings, and proficiency in MIG/TIG/Arc welding, with a strong health and safety focus.

Applicants must have a Grade 12 or equivalent, a Trade Test Certificate, a valid unendorsed driver's license, and be medically fit. Responsibilities include fabrication, welding, maintenance, and quality checks on site.

Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent technical qualification.
Qualified Boilermaker/Welder (Trade Test Certificate).
2–3 years' experience in Boilermaking or Welding.
Proficiency in MIG/TIG/Arc welding techniques.
Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
Strong understanding of workplace health and safety standards.
Ability to work under pressure.
Good leadership and communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Medically fit per the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Valid unendorsed driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and equipment according to specifications.
Perform welding using MIG, TIG, and Arc welding techniques as required.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Cut, shape, bend, and weld metal components to required tolerances.
Conduct routine and breakdown maintenance on plant and equipment.
Carry out quality checks and inspections on completed work.
Carry out fitting work.
Complete work orders/job cards using relevant systems.
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures on site.
