Job summary

Afrimat Lyttelton, based in Centurion, is seeking a qualified Boilermaker/Welder to join our team. The role requires 2–3 years' experience, reading drawings, and proficiency in MIG/TIG/Arc welding, with a strong health and safety focus.

Applicants must have a Grade 12 or equivalent, a Trade Test Certificate, a valid unendorsed driver's license, and be medically fit. Responsibilities include fabrication, welding, maintenance, and quality checks on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent technical qualification.
• Qualified Boilermaker/Welder (Trade Test Certificate).
• 2–3 years' experience in Boilermaking or Welding.
• Proficiency in MIG/TIG/Arc welding techniques.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety standards.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Medically fit per the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Valid unendorsed driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and equipment according to specifications.
• Perform welding using MIG, TIG, and Arc welding techniques as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Cut, shape, bend, and weld metal components to required tolerances.
• Conduct routine and breakdown maintenance on plant and equipment.
• Carry out quality checks and inspections on completed work.
• Carry out fitting work.
• Complete work orders/job cards using relevant systems.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures on site.
