Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Bioprocess Engineer in Benoni to contribute to innovative biopharmaceutical development. You will design, develop, and optimize large-scale bioprocessing operations for biological therapeutics, collaborating with research, development, and manufacturing teams to ensure scalable, compliant production.

The role requires a master's or PhD in chemical/biochemical engineering or biotechnology, at least four years of experience in biopharma process development, and strong GMP

Qualifications

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication abilities.
• Experience with cell culture, fermentation, purification and aseptic processing is preferred.
• GMP knowledge and ability to work in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, scale-up, and optimize upstream (cell culture/fermentation) and downstream (purification) bioprocesses.
• Develop and implement process validation strategies for biological products.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during process development and manufacturing.
• Conduct process characterization studies to ensure product consistency and quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analytical development, quality assurance, and manufacturing.
• Author technical reports, development protocols, and regulatory submission documents.
• Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory guidelines in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
