Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Bioprocess Engineer to join its R&D team in Klerksdorp, SA. You will develop and optimize biologics manufacturing processes, including scale-up and technology transfer, while ensuring GMP-compliant operations and robust product quality.

The role requires 3–5 years of biopharma experience, hands-on bioreactor and cell culture expertise, and strong problem-solving skills within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of biopharmaceutical process development or manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on experience with bioreactor operation, cell culture, fermentation, and downstream processing.
• Knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork and ability to communicate complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize microbial or mammalian cell culture processes for biologics production.
• Perform process validation, scale-up studies, and technology transfer.
• Monitor and control bioprocess parameters to ensure quality and yield.
• Troubleshoot deviations and implement corrective actions to maintain performance.
• Collaborate with R&D, QA, and manufacturing teams.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations on process development activities.
