Job summary

The President Hotel in Cape Town is seeking a skilled bartender to join our high-volume bar and hotel team. You will take beverage orders, craft cocktails, and deliver warm, personalised service to guests.

This role requires strong beverage knowledge, excellent presentation, and the ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays while maintaining exacting standards. You’ll stock, restock, handle POS payments, upsell beverages, and collaborate with F&B colleagues to ensure smooth service

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric is required.
• Minimum 1 year bartending experience in a fast-paced hotel or upmarket venue.
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Good communication and guest service skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple orders.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
• - Minimum 1 years bartending experience in a fast-paced hotel or upmarket restaurant bar environment
• - Previous bartending experience within a busy 4-star or 5-star hotel environment advantageous
• - Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages
• - Strong beverage preparation, presentation and service skills
• - Confident and engaging communication and guest service skills
• - Ability to read guest cues, anticipate needs and make suitable beverage recommendations
• - Good knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices
• - Understanding of food safety, hygiene and basic HACCP standards
• - Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple orders during busy service periods
• - Experience using POS systems advantageous
• - Ability to work shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays
• - Professional grooming, presentation and a positive service attitude
• - South African citizen or holder of a valid South African work permit

• - Delivering warm, engaging and personalised service to every guest
• - Providing beverage recommendations, menu guidance and pairing suggestions
• - Serving alcoholic beverages responsibly and following all required procedures
• - Maintaining a clean, organised and professionally presented bar station throughout service
• - Restocking beverages, glassware, garnishes and other bar supplies as required
• - Assisting with daily stock counts, stock rotation and wastage reporting
• - Monitoring stock levels and helping to minimise unnecessary wastage
• - Processing orders and payments accurately through the POS system
• - Actively upselling beverages and identifying opportunities to increase revenue
• - Working closely with the Food & Beverage team to ensure smooth and efficient service
• - Reporting equipment faults, breakages and maintenance requirements promptly
• - Maintaining hotel beverage, hygiene and service standards at all times
